Josh's review for this week is for our friend Jyoti Rajan Gopal's Stonewall Honor Book Desert Queen, about which we talked a great deal in our conversation with her last year. Jyoti's sparse, poetic beauty flows magically with the lush and vibrant illustrations by Svabhu Kohli, which are their own master class in visual design and leading the eye naturally from one spread to the next. This book would be enough on its own even without knowing the rich history behind Queen Harish and Jyoti's own journey to learn about this story.
