Josh's review this week is for Island Storm, written by Brian Floca and illustrated by Sydney Smith. This one was on the new items shelf and stood out to josh thanks to Sydney Smith's vivid painterly style. This book is a great example of coming for one thing and staying for another. The art and subject matter are both great, but the surprise hit in this book is the way it portrays sibling relationships, exploring the world, and pushing boundaries in a dangerous and experimental way. Navigating the storm together becomes the framing device for something much deeper: connection, trust, and shared experience.
