Josh's review for this week is for JOVITA WORE PANTS, and wow, he thinks he hasn't read a lot of picture books with this vibrant and lively an art style in a hot minute. Illustrator Molly Mendoza's detailed, imaginative, and gorgeous art shines alongside Aida Salazar's depiction of Jovita's journey. The framing around pants is a really nice way into some serious subject matter, including rebellion and death, and the book treats both with sensitivity and reverence that keep the reader's attention focused on her compelling journey.
