Josh's review for the week is for Winsome Bingham's THE WALK, illustrated by EB Lewis in a realistic painterly style very evocative of Winsome's earlier book SOUL FOOD SUNDAY, also a favorite. THE WALK is about a community coming together to do their civic duty and vote. They move as one, a crescendo of human connection moving forward with hope. It has an inquisitive perspective and a couple of really powerful nods to current events. Nods that reinforce to the grownups reading the book that our country is far from perfect and requires constant effort - forward movement - to protect our rights.
