And Josh's review this week is for Anita Yasuda's UP UP EVER UP, illustrated by Yuko Shimizu. One year ago we released our chat with Anita and it's about dang time Josh reviewed her bio of Junko Tabei. Anita's language is evocative, driving, caring, and paced well. But the way it's paired with Yuko's artwork is exceptional. The art evokes classic Japanese illustration styles, and especially the way the factual biography is in places illustrated in a fantastical, non-realistic way, makes it so emotionally grounded and riveting.
