VERA LA VALIENTE IS SCARED

Josh's review is for pod friend Ana Siqueira and her book which, spoiler alert, I reviewed last episode in case you missed it, Vera La Valiente is Scared. We gush a little bit in our chat with Ana, but what's especially nice about this book is that it's the full package. Teresa Martinez's art is curvy and engaging and expressive to match the ups and downs of Vera's emotional state. And Ana does a great job of putting us in Vera's mind as she questions her sense of self identity. Not only that, but Ana writes the story with an added layer of simile - seriously, teachers, you could teach a lesson in class about how to construct comparisons with similes using this book. It's great.
